Lazy Susans & Accessories

The Vermont Butcher Block and Board Company is located in Williston, Vermont. They offer functional and beautiful wood products such as wooden cutting boards, wooden rolling pins and wooden lazy susans just to name a few. The pieces are assembled by hand so the grains lay in an attractive pattern showcasing the natural beauty of the wood.  “Cutting with Confidence” is their motto as their weighty cutting boards are usually made at least 1½ inches thick to ensure their customers are truly “cutting with confidence”. To strengthen the blocks and boards the glue joints are staggered. All wooden cutting boards and butcher blocks are laser engraved with care instructions on the bottom of the pieces so there are no papers to keep track of. All Glues and oils used in creating theses pieces are FDA approved PVA glue and food safe mineral oil. Please note that wooden cutting boards made outside of the USA can use any glue available to them and there is no regulation involved. The Vermont Butcher Block and Board products are thoroughly treated with food safe mineral oil before they leave the shop so they are ready for use once they are united with their new owners. When it comes to sushi and cheese be not afraid as their boards are coated with and FDA approved food safety polyurethane and only need to be hand washed and dried after each use. One of the most exciting options Vermont Butcher Block and Board Company has to offer is their Custom Laser Engraving, they are able to engrave anything on the top or bottom surface of their products, a special note, wedding date, special anniversary, personal message, thank you, even corporate logos and website addresses! You name it they can engrave it. On a final note all of the wood products offered are made in Vermont from responsibly harvested tree forests. We hope you enjoy the easy care and use of these beautifully handcrafted butcher blocks and wooden cutting boards for years to come.

Wood Care

Butcher Block and Cutting Board Care Instructions

We engrave them on the bottom of every butcher block and cutting board that goes out the door, so you can never lose them.

1. Wash with soap and water after use.

2. Dry immediately.

3. Rub with mineral oil 2-3 times per month.

4. Do not place in the dishwasher.

We would also suggest using a clean or new sponge for your board to help prevent bacteria transmissions. That’s it. If for some reason your board develops a smell (garlic heads, you know who you are) or a stain (for you strawberry heads) and you would like to rid your board of that smell or stain you can slice a lemon in half and rub over the entire surface. The lemon will bleach and scour the board.

We get a lot of questions about how much mineral oil should be put on one of our products. The answer is “never enough.” Our products are soaked in a vat of FDA approved food grade mineral oil before they leave our shop. When you put your first application of mineral oil on your product, you will either see it soak in or not soak in over a 15-20 minute period. If it soaks in and the wood is dry to the touch, you can rub it down again immediately with more mineral oil. If the oil has pooled on the surface of the block, then you can just wipe it off with paper towels and be comfortable that you are properly caring for your product.

Using bleach on your product is not recommended. Stay tuned for published care articles.
